My Comedic Quest to Rediscover Joy Through Painting

As a life coach, I dedicated my career to helping others find balance, purpose, and fulfillment—while simultaneously forgetting to balance my own life! I was like a circus performer juggling flaming torches of coaching sessions, facilitating trainings, and endless to-do lists, all while sacrificing my own well-being. I mean, who needs self-care when you can be productive, right? Spoiler alert: I definitely did!

The relentless pursuit of success soon wore me down. I found myself feeling burned out, anxious, and about as creatively inspired as a potato. It hit me like a ton of bricks: I needed a change! I decided to stop coaching, took on a job as a Trainer and started on a quest to reconnect with myself.

Mission: rediscover the joy that had vanished faster than my motivation on a Monday morning.

Enter painting—my unexpected hero! Initially, I thought it would be a fun little experiment, like trying out a new flavor of ice cream. I picked up a brush and let my emotions flow onto the canvas, and suddenly, every stroke became my therapy session. Who knew that splattering paint could be so cathartic? In those blissful moments, I found a sanctuary where the chaos of life couldn’t reach me.

Painting taught me to slow down and live in the moment. As I mixed colors and shaped forms, it was like a dance party on my canvas—just me and my brush, grooving away! I learned to embrace imperfections, realizing that the real beauty of art lies not in being perfect but in being authentic. (Take that, society’s expectations!)

Through my creative journey, I began to heal. I finally tuned into my inner voice, the one I had been ignoring while racing toward productivity. Painting became my trusty tool for self-reflection, helping me untangle the mess of emotions I had shoved down like last week’s leftovers. I started prioritizing self-care, setting boundaries, and protecting my creative time like it was the last cookie in the jar.

As I continued to paint, I discovered a newfound sense of freedom and joy. Creating art turned into a celebration of life, a joyful reminder that I could express myself fully—without worrying about what anyone else thought. I’m currently delving Art Therapy and am excited to incorporate this creative practice into my work as a Trainer. In the future, I plan to bring an artsy twist to life coaching, focusing exclusively on group sessions that encourage exploration of self-expression as a pathway to healing and self-discovery.

Today, I am not just a life coach; I’m also a painter, armed with a brush and a smile. My journey has taught me the importance of balance, creativity, and self-compassion. Through art, I have rediscovered my true self and embraced a more fulfilling life. Who knew that painting could be the secret ingredient to a balanced life?
